Soul Work
Sit ups, push ups, running, walking, healthy eating! We work on keeping our body fit almost constantly. So, what about our soul? Are we even aware of our soul on a daily basis, or do we know what a soul is? Since the soul cannot be seen in a mirror (some would argue with that), it is easy to disregard the care and nurturing that we should be bestowing on this vital part of our being. For it is the soul that goes on, long after the earthly body has exhausted itself. This is my belief, and the belief of many, that the soul continues its journey through life after life in order to attain enlightenment. It's a scary thing to put your beliefs out there because we've all been told it's not polite to discuss religion and, in addition, it opens me up for direct criticism. For me, it has little to do with religion and everything to do with grace and spirituality. And I would hope that the criticism would come in the form of discussion.I believe that my soul has returned to an earthly body in order to learn and improve, to put it simply. Like anything worth attaining, you have to do the work to reach your goal. Being a "good person" is the road to improving one's soul. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I try to consciously work on this every day. I struggle in many areas, and stumble in some, but I'm always aware that my actions have consequences, good or bad. If this is not your belief, or it makes no sense to you, please just consider that what you put out into the world comes back to you in much larger proportions. If you treat people kindly, you will be rewarded with kindness and admiration. If, on the other hand, you have total disregard for your fellow human beings and think only of yourself, you will get little in return to help your soul on its journey, and possibly live a life of misery. So, do your sit ups and take that daily walk.....and work continually on your soul.
