Honor The Ancestors
I so enjoyed creating this spread for a special friend because I love the idea of honoring our ancestors. After all, we would not be who we are without them. Their customs and traditions are handed down through the generations. The sacrifices they made were not for their benefit alone but will continue to allow certain privileges for family members well into the future.
One cultural group that I admire for their ancestral appreciation is my Spanish-speaking neighbors here in Southern California. On those special days of each year (November 1st and 2nd) called Dia de los Muertos, celebrations abound. Prayers, colorful clothing, dancing and singing with festive music and, of course, lots of great food…what better way to honor and celebrate those who came before. I truly enjoy the atmosphere of celebration as opposed to mourning, and the painted faces make it even more fun!
